The Health Store Retail Brand Gains Momentum

The last month has seen a further three stores transform their premises and adopt the retail brand of The Health Store bringing the total number of branded stores to thirty-two. The Bay Tree in Ferndown, Dorset, along with Health Matters in Maidstone, Kent and Hummingbird Health in Ashbourne, Co. Dublin, Ireland are all now making the most of the many benefits of belonging to a growing high street name as well as bringing consumers a truly professional, approachable and ethical shopping experience

All three stores enjoyed a week-long official launch celebration during which they offered their customers many special offers and promotions from leading suppliers, free in-store samplings of natural products, free nutritional and therapeutic advice from industry experts as well as a fabulous healthy hamper prize, donated by The Health Store.

Each store launch was fully supported by an integrated marketing campaign, led by Victoria Simpkins, Retail Brand Manager of the Buying Group. This included local PR and advertising as well the design and printing of promotional material, specific to each store.

The store in Maidstone is the third Health Matters branch to re-launch with the support and assistance of The Health Store, the UK’s largest co-operatively owned buying group for independent health food retailers. Business is booming for branches in both Bromley and Petts Wood after their transformation in 2002. Marion Allen who opened her first health store in Bromley in 1982 says ‘Health Matters is very much an independent store but we are pleased to have the support of The Health Store and the increased buying power that it brings. This way we are able to offer our customers some very special offers’.

The retail brand identity was launched by the Buying Group in 1999 to enable independent retailers to benefit from a professional store concept and compete on a more equal footing with other high street chains and multiples. This model has been successfully rolled out around the country and a total of 32 stores have been successfully re-branded.
